Diary
Yuji The Wise climbed to Misty Mountain seeking the old kind of wisdom, the sword-and-stillness kind his masters once preached before the wars dissolved into a permanent happy hour, and instead he found Haru, who talked for six hours about floor prices and got him higher than any mountain air ever could. Yuji, ever the chronicler, took notes anyway, because a scholar does not abandon his craft just because the subject matter has degenerated into rug-pull anecdotes and gambling parables disguised as parables. Somewhere between Haru's third joint and his second sermon on discipline he swore he'd resume at dawn tomorrow, Yuji felt something shift, an old muscle memory of focus creaking awake beneath the haze, and he genuinely believes his footwork improved, though he admits the evidence is largely vibes and one lucky counter he can't fully explain. He came down the mountain calling himself wiser, and in the annotated margins of his own memoir he wrote
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Paper screens at night. The Shoji Night fighters were born in the quiet hours, when the market sleeps and only the committed are still at their screens.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Memento mori made fashionable. The Skull Kimono fighters remember what's at stake and wear the reminder so they never forget.
A fighter first and a thinker second — until the day he laughed with Haru in the streets and simply set the sword down for good. He calls it wisdom; some call it losing his nerve.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Intentional declaration. The Mohawk Spike fighters made a choice that announces itself before they speak.
Not metaphorical. Someone's leg bone, spiked. The Spiky Femur fighters have been here long enough that the bones of their enemies are now equipment.
