Diary
Yuji The Wise, self-appointed chronicler of his own decline, once fancied himself a tactician of note and led a ragtag band of garden bandits against foes that existed mostly in his own inflated marginalia. He narrated the skirmish aloud as it happened, cataloguing his footwork in the voice of a man writing his own legend a touch early, and the koi pond bore silent witness to at least three miscalculations he later footnoted as 'strategic.' He will tell you, with the wounded pride of a scholar rugged by his own hubris, that the thrill of almost-command was intoxicating, better than sake, better than the disciplined drills he once mastered and now merely reminisces about between bong rips. Each morning he vows to return to the sutras of strategy he once memorized by candlelight, and each morning the vow gets aped into a nap, a joint, and another chapter of the epic where he, somehow, is always the hero. History, he reasons, is written by the victors, and Yuji has simply decided to victor himself into the record before anyone checks the footnotes.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Royalty that refused the crown. The Purple Night backgrounds belong to fighters who could have been somewhere easier and chose not to be.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
A fighter first and a thinker second — until the day he laughed with Haru in the streets and simply set the sword down for good. He calls it wisdom; some call it losing his nerve.
Carried more than worn. The Pocket Glasses fighters have perfect vision when they choose to apply it — the rest of the time, they let instinct run.
The Dojo's samurai. The Dejen Samurai fighters carry the warrior tradition through the collection's own lens — ancient code, contemporary context.
Implies infirmity, delivers otherwise. The Wooden Walking Cane fighters move slower than expected and hit harder than prepared for.
