Diary
Yuuki once stood at the front of a battle line without blinking, and now he applies that same unblinking calm to standing at the front of a noodle house line, which is, he insists, a comparable use of a warrior's spirit. The betrayal itself was small as these things go, a family reservation quietly sold out from under his cousins for a shorter wait, but the monkey was not small, and the chopstick was not meant for stabbing, and yet there he was, defending his stolen bowl of tonkotsu like it was the last castle in Japan. He remembers the monkey's face more than his cousins', which tells him everything he needs to know about where his honor currently resides. These days he practices restraint by ordering the same broth and not fighting anyone over it, a discipline he fails at roughly once a week when the broth runs low and old instincts run high. Still, he bows to the noodle house on the way out every time, less out of respect and more out of apology, quiet and steady, the way a man apologizes to a war he is still somehow losing to lunch.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Hidden in plain sight. The Night Forest fighters do most of their work in the dark — not secretively, but quietly. They don't need an audience.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Wealth made garment. The Money Kimono fighters wear their wins literally — the fabric is a record, not a boast.
'Yuuki' means courage, earned the plain way: by stepping forward on the mornings every sane part of him voted to step back. Bravery, for him, was a decision made fresh each day.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Tied before the fight. The Green Bandana fighters have a ritual of preparation — the bandana is how they mark the transition.
A live chicken. As a weapon. The Chicken fighters have committed to an approach that nobody expected and found that unexpectedness is half the battle.
