Diary
Yuuki once stood on battlefields where courage meant holding a line while arrows rained like bad news, and now that same courage gets spent defending a bowl of noodles from a thieving monkey at the noodle house on a Tuesday. He does not flinch. He grips the chopstick like it is a wakizashi, eyes streaming from wasabi he heaped on out of sheer degenerate bravado, and when the monkey lunges for his tempura he stabs it clean, a single decisive strike worthy of a general who once actually mattered. The monkey shrieks, then to everyone's horror looks weirdly, unmistakably delighted, and Yuuki realizes with quiet dread that he has aped into the strangest possible market and there is no floor beneath this trade. He tries, as always, to summon the old discipline, the calm breath, the steady hand of a warrior who never overreacts, but the wasabi has rugged his sinuses and the monkey will not stop staring at him with something like affection. Still he sits back down, wipes his eyes, finishes his noodles like a man who has survived worse, because somewhere between the war and the wasabi he decided small stupid battles deserve the same quiet heroism as the big ones.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Hidden in plain sight. The Night Forest fighters do most of their work in the dark — not secretively, but quietly. They don't need an audience.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
The blue Oni does not rage. The blue Oni waits. The Blue Oni Tattoo fighters are the calmest ones in the room — which makes them the most dangerous.
'Yuuki' means courage, earned the plain way: by stepping forward on the mornings every sane part of him voted to step back. Bravery, for him, was a decision made fresh each day.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Tied before the fight. The Green Bandana fighters have a ritual of preparation — the bandana is how they mark the transition.
