Diary
Edmundo came from somewhere far enough that nobody in the dojo bothered pronouncing it right, and he never corrected them, content to watch the gates like a man guarding a temple that only he seemed to remember was sacred. Years of disciplined stance-work dissolved one humid night in the red light district, where sake and something green in his lungs convinced him that hollering insults at working women was the height of comedic genius. The women did not laugh. Neither did the men who answered on their behalf, and Edmundo woke up counting teeth with his tongue instead of his usual dawn breathing exercises. He tells the new recruits, in his careful foreigner's cadence, that a guard's first duty is silence, and then ruins the lesson by grinning his gap-toothed grin like the punchline to his own joke. Loyal to the dojo, watchful at the gate, and still quietly failing every night to be the kind of man who keeps his mouth as disciplined as his blade.
Theology made weapon-adjacent. The Golden Jesuit Crosses fighters have a philosophy and the crosses are its badge — precise, absolute, delivered with complete conviction.
Lived-in color. The Warm Grey background belongs to fighters who have been through enough that their edges have softened without their core changing.
Mint fighters with gold on them: a golden blade, gold earrings, a golden cross. Orange is the karate step before green, a flat orange-gold so the card prints the way it looks.
An old foreign word for wealth and protection stitched together. He guards something, though what changes depending on who's asking and how much they've had to drink.
No clothing needed. The Shirtless Runt fighters removed every layer between themselves and the fight. Maximum exposure. Maximum honesty.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Practical and armed. The Hair Bun With Chopsticks fighters put utensils in their hair and call it hair care — the dual function is not accidental.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,468 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
A bronze fist on a stick. The Bronze Fisted Warhammer fighters wanted to punch from farther away and commissioned the most literal solution available.
