Diary
Edmundo wasn't born to this island's code, but he chose it anyway, the way a man chooses a family he can actually stand to look at. That loyalty got tested hard the night he found himself at the local shrine, mid-ritual betrayal of his own blood, incense smoke curling up like it was judging him personally, and the ancestors apparently unionized on the spot to strike him down with a headache that felt like enlightenment's ugly cousin. He woke up on the shrine steps still clutching a half-rolled joint and an empty sake cup, thinking maybe the old gods were rugging him for poor life choices rather than any real sin. These days he stands guard at the dojo gates instead, dry-eyed and watchful, muttering in accented calm about the virtues of a quiet life while everyone around him gambles away their last yen on cockfights and coin flips. He tells himself discipline is just around the corner, right after this next bet, right after this next bowl, the same lie every reformed degenerate samurai tells the mirror before it laughs back at him.'
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Lived-in color. The Warm Grey background belongs to fighters who have been through enough that their edges have softened without their core changing.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Grew things before they fought things. The Farmer clothing is the clearest record of what a fighter was before the Dojo changed them.
An old foreign word for wealth and protection stitched together. He guards something, though what changes depending on who's asking and how much they've had to drink.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Color and structure combined. The Orange Bantu Knots fighters make their warmth architectural.
Organization-issue. The Yakuza Club fighters have backup in the weight of the weapon itself — it carries institutional authority.
