Diary
They called him Fat Bob before he ever earned the name properly, and by the gods he spent a lifetime making sure the title fit like a well-worn belt after three bowls of ramen too many. Once he sat seiza with a spine like a temple pillar, disciplined and lean under armor, but peace came and so did the noodles, the sake, and the slow, happy surrender of every ideal he used to hold dear. The night in question found him flat in the dirt outside a teahouse, tangled in a hopeless, half-drunk attempt to charm a mamasan who was clearly out of his weight class in every sense, and somehow, gloriously, he came away with her favor anyway, laughing through a mouthful of dust. He called it thrilling, the way a man calls a bar fight cardio, and swore the very next morning he'd wake at dawn to train like the old days, a promise he broke by breakfast because breakfast smelled like victory and also bacon. Underneath the belly laugh and the soft edges, though, something old and sharp still lived in Fat Bob, the kind of quiet, patient danger that made smarter men not laugh along too hard.
Worn as trophy or warning — nobody is quite sure which. The Chicken Bones fighters have a ceremony for everything and share it with no one.
Bright but not loud. The Teal Daytime fighters are the ones you underestimate because they don't announce their arrival.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Named for what it abandoned. The No Honor Kimono fighters gave up on the codes others follow and found that this freed them completely.
The most accurate names arrive from someone else — and Fat Bob's did, unkindly, long ago. He's spent every fight since proving whoever it was had a point.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Dark nature made structural. The Black Oni Horns fighters grew into something specific and let it show at the top.
Heavy, ceramic, purpose-built for one thing and used for another. The Giant Sake Bottle fighters are creative about their arsenal.
