Fat Bob earned his name the honest way, one dumpling at a time, and he'd spent a whole life proving the nickname right long before Nagasaki ever entered the chat. At the Lantern Festival he was meant to be floating paper wishes down the river like everyone else, chill, half baked, at peace with the universe, but three cups of sake and a shoving match over the last grilled squid skewer turned him into a one man riot against actual civilians, lanterns scattering like his self control. Integrity took the L that night, rugged harder than his last three token calls, and Bob woke up the next morning with regret in his knees and squid sauce in his gi. Now he tells anyone who'll listen that he's opening a self defense dojo, teaching discipline, breathing, the works, even though his idea of a warmup is a bong rip and his idea of sparring is negotiating snack breaks. Deceptively dangerous, painfully sincere, forever the big soft guy who could absolutely end you and somehow never does, Fat Bob keeps hanging the OPENING SOON sign back up every time it falls.
Simple. Carved. Someone made this by hand. The Wooden Loop fighters wear something made, not bought, and consider that a statement worth making.
The hour when most give up. The Blue Evening fighters are still at their desk, still watching the chart, still holding.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Named for what it abandoned. The No Honor Kimono fighters gave up on the codes others follow and found that this freed them completely.
The most accurate names arrive from someone else — and Fat Bob's did, unkindly, long ago. He's spent every fight since proving whoever it was had a point.
Demon woman, half revealed. The Hannya Half Mask fighters show the monstrous half and keep the human half private.
Aged. Sharp. The Short Spiky Grey fighters have been here long enough for color to leave — and found that what remained is more pointed than before.
The other fish weapon. The Dead Fish fighters use something that smells like loss as a weapon — opponents are too confused to defend properly.
