Diary
They called him Fat Bob long before the belly earned it, back when he was lean and quiet and only mildly terrifying, and somewhere on the fog-choked slopes of Misty Mountain he decided the name deserved a body count to match. He does not remember exactly how many ronin fell up there, only that the mist swallowed the screaming faster than it swallowed the moonlight, and that he walked down the mountain a different man than the one who walked up. Now he tells anyone who will buy the next round that he is retired, that he wants a quieter life, a little rice paddy, maybe a dog, nothing with a blade in it, while he apes his savings into whatever token promises peace of mind and delivers instead another rug and another reason to drink. Every morning he swears today is the day he meditates instead of gambles, and every morning by noon he is three sake deep explaining to strangers why the mountain still visits him in dreams shaped like candlestick charts. Underneath the jokes and the gut and the losing streak is a man who was sane once, who is still, somewhere, trying to remember what that felt like before the mist got him.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Royalty that refused the crown. The Purple Night backgrounds belong to fighters who could have been somewhere easier and chose not to be.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Half the statement. The Skull Sleeve fighters communicate their philosophy in one arm — the other arm is for whatever needs doing next.
The most accurate names arrive from someone else — and Fat Bob's did, unkindly, long ago. He's spent every fight since proving whoever it was had a point.
Still wearing them. The Bloodied Glasses fighters need nothing to be clean to keep seeing clearly.
Named for the legendary swordsman. The Flowing Battousai fighters carry the name of the fastest draw in the collection's lore — and the hair confirms they take this seriously.
Not metaphorical. Someone's leg bone, spiked. The Spiky Femur fighters have been here long enough that the bones of their enemies are now equipment.
