They called him Fat Bob before he ever earned it, and Bob, being a man of quiet integrity, spent thirty years making sure the name never lied. Once he carried a blade with something like honor, but honor doesn't pour itself a drink, and Legless Tom sure does. Under the sakura petals drifting down like the world's softest confetti, the two of them aped into a sake bottle meant for sipping and treated it like it had a floor to break, laughing about wars neither of them fought well. Bob woke up respectability-rugged, robe inside out, petals in his beard, swearing on his ancestors he'd never do it again, right before doing it again the following spring. He knows better now, he says, the same way he knows the blossoms will fall and Tom will be waiting underneath them, cup already full, discipline nowhere in sight but always, always invited back next year.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Red moon, heightened stakes. The Red High Moon backgrounds mark the moments when everything was on the line and the fighter stayed.

The most accurate names arrive from someone else — and Fat Bob's did, unkindly, long ago. He's spent every fight since proving whoever it was had a point.

The Dojo's version of a mohawk. More specific, more named. The Dejen Mohawk fighters chose the Dojo's interpretation of rebellion over the generic one.
