They called him Fat Bob before he ever earned it, and Bob figured a man might as well grow into an insult if fate's already engraved it on the tavern wall. Once he was a blade for hire with a code tighter than his obi, but the day he led a ragtag crew of bandits skittering across the palace roof tiles, laughing while arrows chased their heels, something honest in him finally exhaled. He tells anyone who'll buy the next round that it was the most alive he's felt since the wars ended, more alive than temple bells, more alive than duty ever managed. These days he swears he's rebuilding discipline, one dawn meditation cut short by a bowl of shatter and a nap, one katana drill abandoned for dice, and yet somehow when the real trouble starts his belly laugh turns to silence and his hands remember every roof tile like an old friend. Fat Bob, degenerate, ex-honorable man, still deceptively dangerous, still grinning like the fall never hurt at all.”
