They called him Fat Bob before he ever earned it, and somewhere along the way he decided the only honorable thing left was to make the name true, one dumpling and one bad decision at a time. Back when discipline still meant something to him, he led a ragged crew of bandits right up to the shoji doors of a house that trusted him, and the paper walls remembered his shadow long after the shame did not fade. He tells the story now with a wheezing laugh, like it's someone else's disgrace, though everyone at the dojo knows he still flinches at the sound of sliding wood. Fat Bob vowed to be a better man that very night, swore it on sake he was too broke to finish, and has been chasing that vow through card games, weed smoke, and floor-price copium ever since, always half a step behind the guy he promised to become. He's still trying, bless him, jovial and dangerous in equal measure, a walking apology with fists that never got the memo about redemption arcs.'

The most accurate names arrive from someone else — and Fat Bob's did, unkindly, long ago. He's spent every fight since proving whoever it was had a point.

The farmer's crown. The Rice Hat fighters carry tradition on their head without ceremony — it's just what you wear when you have work to do.
