Fat Bob earned his name the honest way, one dumpling and one bad decision at a time, and he'd spent a whole second life trying to prove the nickname wrong before quietly deciding to just prove it right instead. In the gambling house at Kyoto's edge, reeking of sake and somebody's questionable weed stash, he caught three ninjas palming his dice and did what any disciplined former samurai would do: he stood up so fast he tipped the table and screamed at shadows that were, technically, already gone. The knife found his side before his mouth finished the sentence, which he later called efficient feedback, the universe's way of rugging a man who talks too much and blocks too little. He laughed through the stitches, told the healer it was a discount tattoo, and swore on his ancestors' honor that tomorrow he'd meditate, drink water, maybe even dodge something on purpose. Tomorrow, as always for Fat Bob, arrived already drunk and lost the bet.
