They called him Fat Bob before he ever lifted a blade, some cruel nickname hurled across the Dojo gardens, and Bob being Bob just laughed and decided the fastest way to shut everyone up was to become a warrior nobody dared tease again. It worked, mostly, right up until the wars ended and Bob discovered that a fearsome reputation does not pay the tab at the sake house or cover a rugged bag of shitcoins he aped into after one too many bowls of weed. Yuuki still finds him out there among the same gardens where the teasing started, older, rounder in new places, asking with total sincerity what a man built for battle is supposed to do now that the only wars left are against his own liver and his own portfolio. He nods gravely at every piece of advice Yuuki offers about discipline and balance, then immediately wanders off to buy the floor of some joke token because the chart 'felt disciplined.' Underneath the jokes there is real ache in him, a warrior who proved his name right once and would love nothing more than to prove it right again, if only the world would stop being so funny about it.'
Heavy. Deliberate. The Gold Earring fighters wear their conviction in precious metal on the outside so everyone knows before they speak.
Unclear until it clears. The Grey Mist backgrounds belong to fighters who operate where others can't see, and use that fog as their advantage.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Blessed by the Dojo's own rites. The Ordained Dejen fighters carry something that can't be revoked — the Dojo recognized them and that recognition is permanent.
The most accurate names arrive from someone else — and Fat Bob's did, unkindly, long ago. He's spent every fight since proving whoever it was had a point.
