Diary
They call him Fat Bob because someone had to, and once they did he spent thirty years making sure the name never felt like a lie. He wandered into the Tsukiji fish market meaning only to grab breakfast and maybe reclaim some scrap of bushido before the day got away from him, but the smell of grilled eel and old brine dragged him back through every wrong turn of his life, and honor, that slippery little koi, swam right out of his hands. He stood there among the ice crates weeping softly into a bag of chuka soba, thinking about the dojo he abandoned, the katas he half remembers, the sensei who probably still tells students not to be like him. Fat Bob has so many issues stacked up they need their own floor price, yet every morning he vows today is the day he finds discipline again, right after this one bowl, right after this one nap, right after this one everything. He waddles home past the tuna auctioneers, more degenerate than samurai, still jovial, still dangerous in the way a landslide is dangerous, proving his name right one soggy noodle at a time.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Unclear until it clears. The Grey Mist backgrounds belong to fighters who operate where others can't see, and use that fog as their advantage.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
The standard-bearer. The Proud Dejen Kimono fighters represent the collection consciously — they know what they're part of and they dress accordingly.
The most accurate names arrive from someone else — and Fat Bob's did, unkindly, long ago. He's spent every fight since proving whoever it was had a point.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Named for the legendary fighter. The Red Heihachi fighters carry that name's weight in every match and find it light.
The poisonous pufferfish as a weapon. The Frightened Fugu fighters chose something lethal that looks absurd — and find that this is the most accurate description of themselves.
