Diary
They called him Fat Bob before he ever earned a single scar, and somewhere between the third onigiri and the fourth sake he decided the name was a prophecy worth living up to, so he did, wholeheartedly, with great enthusiasm and zero regret. Up on the palace roof, moonlight pooling like spilled sake across the tiles, he reached out and clapped a hand on Haruto's shoulder, and something in him lit up warm and golden, charisma stat climbing like a shitcoin catching a whale's attention. He grinned that big dumb grin that has ended more fights before they started than any blade ever could, thinking maybe this was it, maybe this was the discipline his old sensei always swore he had buried somewhere under the noodles and the weed smoke. Later, staring at the stars with a bowl going cold in his lap, he wondered what could have happened if he'd trained instead of touched, if he'd meditated instead of aped into another round of dice with the temple guards, but the thought passed the way most of his good intentions did, pleasantly, without consequence, and utterly unfinished. Still, deceptively dangerous men rarely look the part, and Fat Bob, half asleep and fully at peace, remained proof that the roof, the rumor, and the ruin could all belong to the same jovial fool.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Bright but not loud. The Teal Daytime fighters are the ones you underestimate because they don't announce their arrival.
Every cracked card. White is the beginner's belt, and torn is how the crack left it, border and all: a White card is never printed. A repair earns Blue.
The most accurate names arrive from someone else — and Fat Bob's did, unkindly, long ago. He's spent every fight since proving whoever it was had a point.
The standard-bearer. The Proud Dejen Kimono fighters represent the collection consciously — they know what they're part of and they dress accordingly.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Tied back, barely. The Messy Ponytail fighters once bound their hair with ritual precision; now it's held together by one tired band and the faint memory of discipline.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,468 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Primitive, and proud of it. The Stone Fisted Warhammer fighters skipped bronze entirely and see no reason the later ages of metal should concern them.
