He'd meant to find stillness out here, the quiet discipline his old sensei used to talk about, the kind you get from breathing right and wanting less, but instead he found a Russian who wanted his floor position and possibly his kneecaps. Bob laughed, because that's what he does when the world gets serious, patted his belly like it was a shield forged by Mitsubishi and gods, and squared up anyway, equal parts scared rabbit and sleeping bear.
