They called him Fat Bob before he'd even earned it, and true to form he spent thirty-odd years proving the name right, one dumpling and one bad decision at a time. Once he swept the dojo floors and mucked the stables at dawn, finding a strange peace in shoveling poop before the sun cleared the pines, disciplined in a way nobody who knows him now would believe. These days discipline looks like promising himself one drink, then bloodying his own knuckles on the wall of his family's house after a mamasan turned him down flat, his pride rugged harder than a two-am shitcoin. He laughed about it after, of course, because Fat Bob laughs about everything, even as he iced his hand and thought about how much simpler life was when his biggest problem was where the horse had left its mess. Underneath the jokes and the gut and the busted hand, though, there's still a blade in him somewhere, patient, waiting for a reason worth being sharp for.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Lived-in color. The Warm Grey background belongs to fighters who have been through enough that their edges have softened without their core changing.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Still learning. The Student Gi fighters are the most dangerous in the Dojo — they have no habits yet, no fixed patterns, no ceiling.
The most accurate names arrive from someone else — and Fat Bob's did, unkindly, long ago. He's spent every fight since proving whoever it was had a point.
