Diary
They called him Fat Bob before he'd earned a single scar, and somewhere along the way he decided the fastest path to peace was becoming exactly what the name promised. Up at Kiyomizu-Dera, with the wooden platform groaning under tourists and pigeons, he made the mistake of teasing Yuuki, some joke about her stance being wide enough to park a rickshaw in, and found out the hard way that a laugh can cost a man his whole sense of self. She didn't even break a sweat unmaking him, and Bob limped home tainted, humbled, and strangely hungry. These days he tells anyone who'll listen that he misses the old life, back when his biggest daily struggle was cleaning poop at the stables, a job with honest hours, low stakes, and zero risk of getting folded like a lawn chair by a woman half his width. He still tries to train at dawn, swears off the shochu and the dumplings every single morning, and by noon he's three bowls deep insisting this is technically bulking for the discipline arc.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Royalty that refused the crown. The Purple Night backgrounds belong to fighters who could have been somewhere easier and chose not to be.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Not a garment — a record. The Battle Scars clothing is what's left after everything else was stripped away. These fighters wear their history.
The most accurate names arrive from someone else — and Fat Bob's did, unkindly, long ago. He's spent every fight since proving whoever it was had a point.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Wild, electrified. The Zapachi fighters' hair moves independently and the fighter has accepted that this is appropriate.
