Diary
Fatty Bobsticks will tell you, loudly and often, that he is nothing like Fat Bob, thank you very much, even as he unfurls the exact same whetstone his old man used to swear was blessed by three separate shrines. Okinawa is where he went to prove it, dragging his blades across island stone for six straight days, blazing a joint between strokes because discipline, he insists, doesn't mean you have to be boring about it. Somewhere between the tenth sharpening pass and the salt wind off the coast he actually felt it happen, some old samurai hinge in his chest creaking back into place, and for one humbling minute he understood why his father never bragged about anything. He came home a genuinely better man, quieter, kinder, almost insufferably grateful, which lasted right up until he tried to flex about it on the group chat and got rugged by his own ego within the hour. Still, ask anyone at the dojo and they'll say the edge on his katana has never been sharper, and neither, annoyingly, has his humility, not that he'll ever admit his shadow taught him that. There's a version of this where he stays humble forever, but Fatty Bobsticks is still arguing with a ghost, so don't hold your breath.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Royalty that refused the crown. The Purple Night backgrounds belong to fighters who could have been somewhere easier and chose not to be.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
The Dojo itself, worn. Whoever puts on the Degen Dojo Kimono becomes part of the institution — and the institution becomes part of them.
He exists in Fat Bob's extended universe — related, distinct, and absolutely exhausted by the comparison. Same build, same laugh, different problems. Do not, he begs you, get them confused.
Gold-edged, elevated. The Pompous Glasses fighters have earned the right to look down at something and have chosen to look down at mediocrity.
The Dojo's samurai. The Dejen Samurai fighters carry the warrior tradition through the collection's own lens — ancient code, contemporary context.
Repurposed. Made for the earth, used for the fight. The Farmers Hoe fighters don't distinguish between cultivation and combat.
