Diary
Igor The Bear did not become a legend the fast way, the way lesser men do with a single perfect strike under moonlight; he became one the slow way, dozing face-down in a bowl of cold noodles at the corner shop until the broth soaked clean through his gi and the old cook stopped charging him rent on the booth. In the dream that came to him there, a dream thick as tonkotsu, he was young again, blade steady, spine straight, the kind of samurai who finishes what he starts, and for one glorious noodle-scented hour he believed it. He woke to find his chopsticks welded to the table by dried sauce and a crowd of regulars already calling him a legend, not for swordplay but for sheer, immovable unwillingness to leave, and Igor decided that was legend enough for a man his size. He still tells himself tomorrow is the day he wakes early, trains hard, becomes that dream-samurai for real, and every tomorrow he tells himself that a little later than the day before. Better days are coming, he growls, unmoving as a mountain and twice as patient, and somehow you believe him even as he orders seconds.
Sober, unlike the drunk variant. The Lizard fighters have a companion with excellent judgment who never asks for anything and always seems to know when to leave.
Lived-in color. The Warm Grey background belongs to fighters who have been through enough that their edges have softened without their core changing.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Explicit in every sense. The Fuck You Kimono fighters made a communication choice and wore it. No ambiguity. No apology.
Built like a landslide — weight, physical and otherwise, the kind that can't be lifted, only rolled. In the wars you pointed him at a problem; now the stillness is the problem.
Carried more than worn. The Pocket Glasses fighters have perfect vision when they choose to apply it — the rest of the time, they let instinct run.
Organization meets chaos. The Yakuza Hooligan fighters have discipline from one tradition and abandon from another, and they've combined them into something entirely their own.
