Igor The Bear does not hurry for anything, not storms, not debt collectors, not the tide, but he moved with unusual purpose toward the mushroom vendor crouched at the edge of the rice paddies, the way a glacier moves toward a coastline it fully intends to flatten. He paid slow, chewed slower, and settled his enormous frame into the mud to watch Goro stagger between the paddy rows, arguing with a heron, apologizing to a scarecrow, generally unraveling in real time. Once Igor held a blade with the stillness of stone and the discipline of a man who never wasted a motion; now he holds a paper bag of fungi and a professional interest in another man's spiral, which is its own kind of discipline, technically. He told himself he was only there to observe, to stay sharp, to not partake, and then he partook, because the old samurai code never said anything specific about mushrooms and Igor is nothing if not a scholar of loopholes. By the time the paddies started breathing in slow green waves, Igor had long forgotten Goro's issues and was deeply, warmly, uselessly at peace with his own.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Unclear until it clears. The Grey Mist backgrounds belong to fighters who operate where others can't see, and use that fog as their advantage.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Lord's garment worn into battle. The Daimyo Warrior Kimono fighters have authority they didn't ask for and intention they haven't announced.
Built like a landslide — weight, physical and otherwise, the kind that can't be lifted, only rolled. In the wars you pointed him at a problem; now the stillness is the problem.
Still functional. Functionally broken. The Broken Glasses fighters see a cracked version of reality and have found it more honest than the uncracked one.
Clean but rough. The White Ruffian fighters look like they could have behaved properly and chose not to. The white makes the choice more visible.
Fermented projectile. The Beer Splash fighters found the most abundant thing in the Dojo and weaponized it.
