Igor The Bear does not fall in love quickly, same as he does not do anything quickly, but on the slope of Mount Koriyoka, with Fred's snake sinking its fangs slow and deliberate into his forearm like it too understood the value of patience, something in his chest finally shifted. There stood a pig, unbothered by the venom or the yelling, chewing something green and looking at Igor like he was furniture worth keeping, and that was that, the mountain had rugged his whole heart in one still moment. He used to be a man of discipline, katas at dawn, breath counted in fours, and now he counts the days since he last did either while the snakebite scars heal into something almost like a tattoo he never asked for. Somewhere between the venom leaving his blood and the pig refusing to leave his side, Igor decided he would open his own dojo, teach the young ones stillness and stance and the sacred art of not aping into things you don't understand, mostly because he aped into a love triangle with a reptile and a farm animal and lived to regret the paperwork. He has already failed to wake up early twice this week to lay the foundation, the pig sleeping on his only mat, but Igor The Bear does not quit things once he starts them, he just starts them extremely, extremely slowly.”
