Diary
Igor The Bear moved through the shaman's lair the way he moved through everything, slow as a glacier deciding whether it liked the ocean, and by the time the birds hit him he was already three thoughts behind the moment. They came in a screaming wheel of feathers and beaks, and something in that ancient blur of noise cracked the last disciplined plank in him, so he sat down right there among the incense and the ruined talismans and did not get up for a long while. He calls that day the start of his degeneracy, the slow avalanche that buried the samurai under sake, snacks, and afternoons spent staring at walls that owed him nothing. Now he announces, in his low unhurried gravel, that he intends to commit seppuku to restore his honor, and everyone believes he means it, and everyone also knows he has been sharpening the same dull blade for six months without once lifting it. He is a mountain trying to fall on purpose and finding, again and again, that mountains are terrible at finishing anything quickly, even their own redemption.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
The hour when most give up. The Blue Evening fighters are still at their desk, still watching the chart, still holding.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Sovereignty in fabric form. The Queeny Chic fighters dress with authority that was never granted by anyone else and therefore can't be revoked.
Built like a landslide — weight, physical and otherwise, the kind that can't be lifted, only rolled. In the wars you pointed him at a problem; now the stillness is the problem.
Formal vision. The Spectacles fighters approached clarity with the same seriousness they bring to everything else — completely.
Made for documentation, used for combat. The Paintbrush fighters record and act simultaneously — every fight is also a portrait.
