Igor The Bear does not wake so much as arrive, one slow inch of mountain at a time, and the night he lay in the snow beside Tokuda he arrived somewhere new entirely, some quieter version of himself he did not order and cannot return. They had nothing left, no fire, no rice, just two ruined soldiers stacked like firewood for warmth, and in that cold Igor swears something in him that used to be sharpened steel went soft and honest instead. He came down off that mountain calling himself a good man, the kind who keeps his word and his knees bent in respect, and for exactly four days the universe let him believe it. Now he sits at the bottom of the valley with a jug he did not mean to buy and a floor price on his own resolve that keeps getting rugged nightly, telling himself tomorrow is the day discipline moves back in. It never does, not really, but Igor is patient the way boulders are patient, and even his failures roll forward slow, warm, and impossible to stop.”
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
