Diary
Igor The Bear does not move fast for anyone, not for battle, not for bar tabs, not even for the pleasure house girls who learned quick that rushing him only meant waiting longer. It was there, in that steam-warm den of sake and soft laughter, that he and Haru built their reputation, two boulders wedged in a doorway, laughing low and slow until the whole room laughed with them. Once he trained before dawn with a blade that answered his breath, and some nights the old discipline still knocks on the inside of his ribs like a debt collector, but the sake is closer and the couch remembers his shape better than the dojo floor ever did. He tells himself tomorrow he starts again, tomorrow the training resumes, tomorrow the mountain finally rolls uphill, and somehow tomorrow keeps arriving looking exactly like today. Still, when Haru needs a laugh or a wall to lean on, Igor is there, immovable, unbothered, living one slow day at a time like it's the only pace the world was ever built for.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
The hour when most give up. The Blue Evening fighters are still at their desk, still watching the chart, still holding.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Built like a landslide — weight, physical and otherwise, the kind that can't be lifted, only rolled. In the wars you pointed him at a problem; now the stillness is the problem.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
The woven face-cover of the wandering monk. The Tengai Basket fighters reveal nothing above the shoulders and everything through how they move.
The other fish weapon. The Dead Fish fighters use something that smells like loss as a weapon — opponents are too confused to defend properly.
