Diary
Igor The Bear used to run the whole operation, oyabun of a Yakuza crew that moved like a glacier through Kyoto's back alleys, slow, certain, unstoppable once it got going. Then came the palace roof, that one cursed night duty under the moon, and a hand where no hand belonged, and something in him cracked quieter than any blade ever could. He does not talk about it fast, he does not talk about anything fast, but ask him twice and he will grunt out that respect is the only currency that never gets rugged, unlike the shitcoin his nephew aped into last spring. Now he says he is done leading men into violence and wants to teach self defence instead, proper stances, proper breath, dignity you can put your whole weight behind. Problem is his first class starts at six, he is still on the futon at nine, and discipline, like Igor himself, is heavy to lift and even heavier to keep moving once it stops.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Bright but not loud. The Teal Daytime fighters are the ones you underestimate because they don't announce their arrival.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
The red Oni rages where the blue Oni waits. The Red Oni Tattoo fighters run hot and they are at peace with this.
Built like a landslide — weight, physical and otherwise, the kind that can't be lifted, only rolled. In the wars you pointed him at a problem; now the stillness is the problem.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Broad shade, broad vision. The Wide Kasa Fisherman fighters cover more ground with their hat than most cover with their plans.
The poisonous pufferfish as a weapon. The Frightened Fugu fighters chose something lethal that looks absurd — and find that this is the most accurate description of themselves.
