Igor does not tell the story of the palace roof. He never has, not to the sake-loosened idiots at Ryogoku who ask, not to the ones who buy him a round hoping liquor unlocks the vault. What is known: he stood one clean promotion from shogun, discipline sharp as a new blade, and something happened up there under the tiled eaves that folding him into a smaller, quieter man than the one who climbed the stairs. Now he sits at the edge of the dojo floor with a joint gone cold between two fingers, still trying to hold the old stances, still rugged by his own knees every single morning. The room quiets when he talks because he says almost nothing, and in that nothing you can hear him waiting, patient as stone, for better days that keep their distance like a floor price that never quite bottoms out.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Paper screens at night. The Shoji Night fighters were born in the quiet hours, when the market sleeps and only the committed are still at their screens.
