Before the incident at Kiyomizu-Dera, Igor The Veteran was known for stillness, the kind monks tried to bottle and sell. Something about the height of that wooden stage, the crowd, the wind doing what wind does, and his kimono betrayed him in front of half of Kyoto. Nobody speaks of it directly, not even Igor, but the title stuck harder than the shame did, earned in silence and worn like armor. These days he never leaves the Dojo, trades temple prayers for warm sake and cold floors, tells himself tomorrow he starts meditating again, tomorrow he finds his center. Tomorrow comes, the bottle's already open, and the room goes quiet anyway when he decides not to explain why.
Not contacts. Not paint. Something older. The Shaman Eyes fighters see through the collection at a frequency others can't access, and they've been doing it since before the derug.
Neither dark nor white. The Light Grey background belongs to fighters who operate in the space between certainties and have made it comfortable there.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Grew things before they fought things. The Farmer clothing is the clearest record of what a fighter was before the Dojo changed them.
The other Igor — the lean one, who earned the word Veteran inside the dojo rather than bringing it with him. He's never explained what it refers to, and nobody's asked twice.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Movement made permanent. The Long Flowing fighters trail behind themselves in every room they enter — the hair arrives first, then the fighter.
