The afternoon was hot enough to melt sense out of a man, and Igor let his guard down for the length of one conversation with Edmundo, that was all it took. Wallet gone, bag rugged clean off his belt, and nobody in the teahouse even blinked, that's how quiet Igor makes a room even when he's the one getting robbed. He didn't shout. He never shouts. He just set his jaw the way he used to before a border skirmish, back when discipline meant something more than a New Year's resolution he breaks by February, and started counting what was left in his pocket for the long climb back. Word is he's been grinding the low-stakes tables again, one hand at a time, sober for three days running which for Igor is practically a monastic vow, promising himself no weed until the reputation and the ryo are both restored. Edmundo still swears he saw nothing, and Igor still says nothing back, just watches the door like the thief might be dumb enough to walk through it twice.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Neither dark nor white. The Light Grey background belongs to fighters who operate in the space between certainties and have made it comfortable there.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.

The other Igor — the lean one, who earned the word Veteran inside the dojo rather than bringing it with him. He's never explained what it refers to, and nobody's asked twice.
