Igor The Veteran does not talk about the cold, but the scar under his ribs does the talking for him. Ikari came at him hard that night, snow turning to slush under their sandals, and something in Igor snapped loose that he thought the wars had already burned out of him. He remembers less about the fight than about the silence after, the way his own breath sounded like a stranger's, the way discipline felt like a floor he'd let get rugged out from under him. These days he still reaches for the jug before the meditation mat, still loses that quiet war every morning, but he never raises his voice again, not even at the dice table when the roll goes against him. He knows better now. He just doesn't always do better, and that's the part he won't explain.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
