Diary
Junichiro once ran his clan with the precision of a man who measured tatami seams before he measured loyalty, a Yakuza leader whose ledgers were as clean as his blade until the night he betrayed his own family across those very mats, a single miscalculation dressed up as ambition. He tells himself it was strategy, not sin, the way he tells himself the empty bottles lined up on his windowsill are a controlled experiment rather than a slow bleed of the discipline he once wore like armor. Every morning he still kneels in seiza for exactly nine minutes, timer set, spine correct, before ruining the ritual by lighting a joint and grading his own posture like a disappointed sensei grading a favorite pupil who peaked too early. He has taken to visiting temples and gamblers alike, asking monks and drunks the same question dressed in different robes, what does a man become when he has already failed the only house that mattered. No one gives him an answer worth his exacting standards, so he keeps measuring the horizon instead, certain that somewhere past the floor he has already broken through, there is a version of himself still capable of perfect form.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Bright but not loud. The Teal Daytime fighters are the ones you underestimate because they don't announce their arrival.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Left the order. Didn't stop fighting. The Dejen Apostate fighters broke from whatever school trained them and found that the training stayed anyway.
'Junichiro' — pure first son, the standard the others are measured against, usually by Junichiro himself. Flawless form, cleanest blade, a line that held because he'd sooner die than break it.
Paper screen optics. The Shoji Glasses fighters see the world through traditional frames — and find that the tradition holds.
Broad shade, broad vision. The Wide Kasa Fisherman fighters cover more ground with their hat than most cover with their plans.
