Diary
They say Junichiro died once already, somewhere between the wars and the weed, and came back wearing his own face like a rented mask, so nobody at the noodle house in Kyoto thought much of it when he drew steel mid-duel and split a snake clean in half that had slithered under the tatami. He didn't flinch, didn't brag, just wiped the blade on his sleeve and ordered another bowl of shoyu ramen like the universe owed him a refund for the interruption. The other fighters called it a good omen, a bad omen, a floor sweep of an omen, but Junichiro only smiled that half smile of a man who has already seen his own death reel twice and found the ending underwhelming both times. Now he wanders the district calm as still water, whispering that killing the snake was the easy part, staying disciplined after is the real rugpull, and every morning he vows to meditate before noon and every noon finds him three sake deep instead, laughing softly at the myth he keeps building around himself. Broken, maybe, but broken the way an old blade is broken in, still sharp enough to remember what it was forged for.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Royalty that refused the crown. The Purple Night backgrounds belong to fighters who could have been somewhere easier and chose not to be.
Every cracked card. White is the beginner's belt, and torn is how the crack left it, border and all: a White card is never printed. A repair earns Blue.
He walked into something that should have ended him and walked back out with the same name and none of the same conditions. Nobody agrees what happened out there, and he's in no hurry to explain.
After the rice was used. The Rice Sack Rags fighters wear what remains after everything useful has been extracted — and find it sufficient.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Golden cone hat of the sea. The Golden Kasa Fisherman fighters came from somewhere patient and arrived with that patience intact.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,468 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Snapped, but still swung. The Broken Naginata fighters lost half the reach and none of the conviction — they simply stand closer now.
