Junichiro Reborn does not remember dying the first time, so he has decided not to remember this either, and files the tooth-pulling incident under the same locked drawer as his old name and his old face. It happened past midnight, the way all his best mistakes do, pliers in one hand and a dead man's patience in the other, when some unseen hand reached out of the dark and grabbed him somewhere no dojo ever trained him to guard. He did not scream, he did not even flinch, he simply logged it as further proof that the universe respects a man who has already come back from the void once and finds groping small potatoes by comparison. There was, of course, supposed to be a ritual of discipline in all this, some old samurai code about facing pain with stillness and dignity, and instead he was aped by the dark mid dental-surgery like some floor-priced NPC, blood and drool and a stranger's hand all part of one indivisible fever dream he swore never to speak of again. He grins about it anyway, because forgetting on purpose is its own kind of enlightenment, and Junichiro Reborn has learned that the only real difference between a monk and a degenerate is which stories they choose to remember out loud.
Heavier than gold. Less prestigious. More honest. The Iron Earring fighters chose function over signal and consider that to be the signal.
Lived-in color. The Warm Grey background belongs to fighters who have been through enough that their edges have softened without their core changing.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Organization ink made visible. The Black Yakuza Sleeves fighters belong to something — a code, a history — and they advertise their membership without speaking.
He walked into something that should have ended him and walked back out with the same name and none of the same conditions. Nobody agrees what happened out there, and he's in no hurry to explain.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Intentional declaration. The Mohawk Spike fighters made a choice that announces itself before they speak.
Implies infirmity, delivers otherwise. The Wooden Walking Cane fighters move slower than expected and hit harder than prepared for.
