Diary
They say Junichiro Reborn died once already, so a week without sleep barely registers as inconvenience, more like a rerun he's watched too many times to blink at. He'd gone out under a moonless sky to rob degens mid-mint, katana sheathed against his back like some ronin cosplay he never quite abandoned, and found his will tested not by the marks but by the temptation to just sit down among their scattered snacks and vape pens and stay there forever. He didn't sleep that night, or the six after, telling himself it was vigilance, discipline, the old samurai way of standing watch, though really it was just the anxiety of a man who came back wrong wondering if closing his eyes might make it permanent this time. Every dojo master he ever bowed to taught him stillness was the highest art, and here he is, wired and grinning in the dark, guarding a bag of stolen JPEGs like it's the last scroll of some forgotten clan. He jokes that death was easier than insomnia, that at least death let him rest, and somewhere underneath the joke is a man still trying to remember what it felt like to simply close his eyes and trust the world not to end.”
Heavier than gold. Less prestigious. More honest. The Iron Earring fighters chose function over signal and consider that to be the signal.
Hidden in plain sight. The Night Forest fighters do most of their work in the dark — not secretively, but quietly. They don't need an audience.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Kept from the harvest. The Dried Straw fighters dress in what's left after everything useful has been taken — and have discovered this is plenty.
He walked into something that should have ended him and walked back out with the same name and none of the same conditions. Nobody agrees what happened out there, and he's in no hurry to explain.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Broad shade, broad vision. The Wide Kasa Fisherman fighters cover more ground with their hat than most cover with their plans.
Not metaphorical. Someone's leg bone, spiked. The Spiky Femur fighters have been here long enough that the bones of their enemies are now equipment.
