Diary
They say Junichiro Reborn died once, and depending on the day he tells it, he agrees. He was walking the crowded lantern street, three courtesans tugging his sleeve for coin he didn't have, when he looked down and found a fistful of forgotten tokens glinting in the gutter like the universe's cruelest inside joke. He didn't laugh, didn't blink, just picked them up with the same stillness a man might use to pick up his own severed hand and reattach it. Now he wanders the dojo halls promising to teach the degens discipline, ledger in one palm, jug of shochu in the other, insisting enlightenment and a good pump chart come from the same silence. Nobody believes he can save anyone, least of all himself, but there is something in his eyes, calm as a closed casket, that makes you wonder if he already knows how this all ends and finds it funny anyway.
One tooth. The whole shark is implied. The Shark Tooth fighters don't need to explain what they've overcome — they wear the evidence.
Paper screens at night. The Shoji Night fighters were born in the quiet hours, when the market sleeps and only the committed are still at their screens.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Organization ink made visible. The Black Yakuza Sleeves fighters belong to something — a code, a history — and they advertise their membership without speaking.
He walked into something that should have ended him and walked back out with the same name and none of the same conditions. Nobody agrees what happened out there, and he's in no hurry to explain.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Practical and armed. The Hair Bun With Chopsticks fighters put utensils in their hair and call it hair care — the dual function is not accidental.
Chain-sickle, aged. The Rusty Kusarigama fighters have been in more fights than maintenance sessions.
