They say Junichiro died once, and whoever came back wearing his face brought a very strange sense of humor with him. Seven nights without sleep out in the frost, the old samurai discipline reduced to rationing his own urine like sake because the streams had frozen solid and pride hadn't quite frozen with them. Somewhere around night five a monkey made the mistake of laughing at him, and Junichiro, calm as a man discussing the weather, put a blade through the moment before the joke finished landing. He tells it now with a small smile, like a man recounting someone else's fever dream, insisting the meditation techniques were working fine right up until the point they weren't. Reborn men keep odd hours and stranger appetites, and Junichiro has simply decided that sleep, much like death, is something he'll get around to eventually.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Paper screens at night. The Shoji Night fighters were born in the quiet hours, when the market sleeps and only the committed are still at their screens.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Kept from the harvest. The Dried Straw fighters dress in what's left after everything useful has been taken — and have discovered this is plenty.
He walked into something that should have ended him and walked back out with the same name and none of the same conditions. Nobody agrees what happened out there, and he's in no hurry to explain.
