One-Eyed Itsuki never needed two eyes to see clearly, and he sure didn't need a dentist either, so on the hottest day of the year he sat under a dying pine and pulled his own teeth out with a rusted pair of pliers he'd aped into off some ronin at a night market. He told himself it was discipline, the old samurai way, mind over rot, but really the sake had gone warm and the pain felt like clarity's cousin. Tooth by tooth his mojo slid out with the enamel, and by the fourth molar he realized he wasn't fighting decay anymore, he was floored, humbled, laughing through blood in the noon heat. He tried once, briefly, to meditate through it, to breathe like the old masters taught, but the discipline lasted exactly as long as it took to spit. Half his sight, all his teeth, zero regrets: Itsuki calls it his rug pull, and swears he's never felt more free.
Worn deliberately. The Nails fighters made choices with their appearance that most would call unconventional and they would call honest.
Royalty that refused the crown. The Purple Night backgrounds belong to fighters who could have been somewhere easier and chose not to be.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.

'Itsuki' — a tree, deep roots and one straight trunk. He lost the eye in a story he tells four different ways depending on how much he likes you, and what's left sees more than most manage with two.
