Diary
One-Eyed Itsuki lost half his sight in a war nobody talks about anymore, and he likes to say the trade was fair since the eye he kept never blinks at nonsense. At the Degen Dojo he sat at the whetstone same as always, methodical, unhurried, until a pack of loudmouth degens wandered over asking why a one-eyed man needed a blade sharp enough to split hairs. He answered with a one-liner instead of a lecture, they laughed, someone passed a joint, and by sundown he had three new friends and zero interest in correcting their form. The old discipline in him insists this was a temporary detour, that tomorrow he returns to katas at dawn and rice at every meal, but tonight that same discipline is quietly outvoted by a bottle he's already decided to finish. Itsuki watches the room double the way it always does, sharp on one side, blurred and warm on the other, and figures a man who sees half the world twice as clearly has earned the right to drink the rest of it away just once.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Unclear until it clears. The Grey Mist backgrounds belong to fighters who operate where others can't see, and use that fog as their advantage.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
The standard-bearer. The Proud Dejen Kimono fighters represent the collection consciously — they know what they're part of and they dress accordingly.
'Itsuki' — a tree, deep roots and one straight trunk. He lost the eye in a story he tells four different ways depending on how much he likes you, and what's left sees more than most manage with two.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Focus made visible. The Karate Headband fighters bound their intention around their skull so it couldn't escape during the fight.
The other fish weapon. The Dead Fish fighters use something that smells like loss as a weapon — opponents are too confused to defend properly.
