Diary
One-Eyed Itsuki lost his depth perception long before he lost his patience, and most days he insists the trade was a fair one, since half a view seen clearly beats a whole world seen blurred. On sparring day at the dojo he sat down to inhale a bowl of noodles before the bell, chopsticks moving with the same disciplined snap he once brought to his blade, until a stray strand fought back and his finger folded the wrong way with a pop loud enough to pause the whole yard. He didn't yell, didn't flinch much, just stared at the offending noodle like it had rugged him personally, then wrapped the finger in a headband and finished the bowl one-handed out of pure principle. His sensei used to say a true swordsman finds stillness in chaos, and Itsuki figures slurping broth through mild agony while everyone else warms up counts close enough. Now he talks softly about wanting a quieter life, fewer bar fights, less loose weed smoke curling through the training hall, but he still shows up to every degenerate gambling night the dojo throws, betting on stupid things with the same steady one eye that never blinks, because peace, it turns out, is the one opponent he can't quite land a hit on.
Collected. Not borrowed. The Foes Teeth fighters carry proof of every fight they've won around their neck and find it a useful conversation starter.
Paper screens at night. The Shoji Night fighters were born in the quiet hours, when the market sleeps and only the committed are still at their screens.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
'Itsuki' — a tree, deep roots and one straight trunk. He lost the eye in a story he tells four different ways depending on how much he likes you, and what's left sees more than most manage with two.
Still functional. Functionally broken. The Broken Glasses fighters see a cracked version of reality and have found it more honest than the uncracked one.
Broad shade, broad vision. The Wide Kasa Fisherman fighters cover more ground with their hat than most cover with their plans.
Implies infirmity, delivers otherwise. The Wooden Walking Cane fighters move slower than expected and hit harder than prepared for.
