One-Eyed Itsuki never needed two eyes to see a bad plan coming, but he walked into this one anyway, boots sinking into mud as he tried to sabotage his own master's footing during a sparring drill gone sideways. Somewhere between the shove and the fall, a light-fingered rival lifted his katana clean off his hip, and Itsuki didn't even notice until he reached for it to bow out gracefully. He sat there in the dirt, half his vision sharper than most men's whole, and just laughed, the kind of laugh that says the universe has a sense of humor and he's in on the joke. These days he trains with a stick he found near a noodle stand, tells himself it's temporary, knows it isn't, and still counts every sunrise as proof that better days are floor price and rising. The blade's gone, the discipline's rustier than a rugged bag, but the man who sees half the world twice as clearly hasn't lost sight of what matters: showing up, staying rooted, and letting the rest sort itself out.
