Raikou used to be a smiling little lord over in Kozuke, all rice fields and cherry blossoms and taxes collected on time, back when discipline was a robe he actually wore instead of a vibe he namedropped. Then some monk at the main temple offered him a bet that felt, in the moment, extremely aped, extremely blessed, extremely floor-is-lava-but-in-a-good-way, and Raikou put the whole fief on the table like it was a meme coin with a cool logo. The dice, or the karma, or whatever cosmic validator was running that block, said no, and just like that his fief got rugged by a guy in sandals who probably meditates about detachment from material things, which, deep breath, is actually kind of funny if you squint. Now he doesn't leave the Dojo, mostly because the outside world has weather and consequences and he has neither the energy nor the land deed for either, so he just sits there, rolling something calming, telling anyone who'll listen that loss is just the universe rebalancing your portfolio. He still tries, every so often, to meditate his way back to that old cheerful discipline, straight-backed and serious for a solid four seconds before he slow-blinks, forgets what stillness was even for, and reaches lightning-fast for the lighter instead.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Paper screens at night. The Shoji Night fighters were born in the quiet hours, when the market sleeps and only the committed are still at their screens.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Blade pattern. The Katana Kimono fighters understand that what you wear signals what you expect — and they expect a fight.
'Raikou' — lightning light. He moved slow and easy right up until the instant he didn't, and then it was over. These days he's mostly slow, and swears the smoke helps him think.
Still wearing them. The Bloodied Glasses fighters need nothing to be clean to keep seeing clearly.
Focus made visible. The Karate Headband fighters bound their intention around their skull so it couldn't escape during the fight.
A live chicken. As a weapon. The Chicken fighters have committed to an approach that nobody expected and found that unexpectedness is half the battle.
