Diary
Under a moon so high it looked aped straight off some cosmic floor price, Raikou stood in the rice fields screaming at ninjas who were probably just shadows, or maybe his own regrets wearing black pajamas, hard to say, the man was three bowls deep. Somewhere between verse two of his own war cry and the ninjas vanishing like a rugged NFT floor, his topknot came undone forever, drifting off like smoke he swears he never inhales anymore. He stood there bald under the moon, strangely at peace, the way a man feels enlightened right after losing everything that used to hold his life together. Now he talks constantly about opening his own dojo, discipline first, students seated in silence, katas at dawn, except dawn keeps rugging him and he wakes at noon smelling like kief and missed potential. Still, he grins that slow lightning grin and says the real dojo was inside him all along, mostly because building a real one requires paperwork, and paperwork, man, paperwork is just the establishment's fear of chill.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Paper screens at night. The Shoji Night fighters were born in the quiet hours, when the market sleeps and only the committed are still at their screens.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Explicit in every sense. The Fuck You Kimono fighters made a communication choice and wore it. No ambiguity. No apology.
'Raikou' — lightning light. He moved slow and easy right up until the instant he didn't, and then it was over. These days he's mostly slow, and swears the smoke helps him think.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Color and structure combined. The Orange Bantu Knots fighters make their warmth architectural.
Heavy, ceramic, purpose-built for one thing and used for another. The Giant Sake Bottle fighters are creative about their arsenal.
