Diary
Yuji The Wise once kept scrolls of strategy, precise annotations on the fall of clans, but these days his only marginalia are tasting notes scrawled on a napkin in Ikari's mother's kitchen. He went there seeking allegiance, a small political favor among fighters, and left instead with three bowls of miso, a lecture on respect from a woman half his height, and an unshakeable sense that he had, in fact, upgraded his life. Ever the chronicler, Yuji narrates his own descent with clinical detachment: "Subject earned favor. Subject also earned free snacks. Subject is now seeking friends of higher caliber, footnote, this may be impossible." He tells himself this is networking, the discipline of a strategist cultivating allies, though the truth is he simply likes being fed and mildly flattered by someone's mom. Still, somewhere beneath the degen fog, the old scholar in him keeps a ledger, and the ledger insists that a man who trades wisdom for leftovers has not yet lost the plot entirely, only misplaced a chapter or two.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
The hour when most give up. The Blue Evening fighters are still at their desk, still watching the chart, still holding.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
The blue Oni does not rage. The blue Oni waits. The Blue Oni Tattoo fighters are the calmest ones in the room — which makes them the most dangerous.
A fighter first and a thinker second — until the day he laughed with Haru in the streets and simply set the sword down for good. He calls it wisdom; some call it losing his nerve.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Practical. Focused. The Hair Bun fighters pulled back what was in their eyes so they could see the whole board.
The floor weapon. Everywhere. Common because common is honest — the Rusty Nail fighters know that what you find is often better than what you planned.
