Diary
They still whisper about the grey mists of Fuzen, the fog that once hid a younger man's silence and now hides the smoke curling off his dice table. Assassin Fuzen was a blade for hire before he became a rumor, before the mist swallowed his name alongside a string of priests who mistook his patience for devotion. Respectability left quietly, the way a debt leaves a ledger only when someone finally stops asking, and Fuzen never bothered to ask it back. Now he runs a gambling den thick with cheap incense and cheaper honesty, dealing cards with the same unhurried calm he once used to wait out a mark, watching men lose everything as if it were confession. He tells himself each night is the last night he'll let the house win on his own bad habits too, and each morning the sun finds him still sitting there, patient as ever, contract with discipline still unsigned.
Without the gold. The Jesuit Crosses fighters have the same conviction but carry it lighter — the weight is in the belief, not the metal.
Military patience. The Olive Green fighters do not announce themselves. They wait. Then they move.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Grew things before they fought things. The Farmer clothing is the clearest record of what a fighter was before the Dojo changed them.
'Fuzen' means incompleteness, a joke at his own expense before it was a name. The blade sent for the jobs that had to be certain — left with one last name on his list when the wars ended.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Ancient discipline, modern retention. The Braided Samurai Ponytail fighters maintain something traditional precisely because the world keeps trying to make them let it go.
The floor weapon. Everywhere. Common because common is honest — the Rusty Nail fighters know that what you find is often better than what you planned.
