Assassin Fuzen once took contracts the way monks took vows, silent, exact, closed within the hour, no loose ends left twitching in the wind. Now he kneels among the ten thousand vermillion gates of Fushimi Inari not to pray for focus but to fish through the offering box for loose change, muttering that the fox spirits owe him a finder's fee for services rendered to the local economy. He tells himself this is just one more contract, patience, precision, in and out before the priest notices, but three hours later he is still crouched behind a torii arguing with a stray cat over a dropped hundred yen coin. Somewhere in that endless tunnel of gates his integrity slipped out a side exit and never filed for extraction, and Fuzen, ever the professional, has simply decided not to close that particular job. He walks off empty-handed but strangely at peace, another unfinished contract added to the pile, another samurai virtue quietly rugged by his own itchy palms.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Royalty that refused the crown. The Purple Night backgrounds belong to fighters who could have been somewhere easier and chose not to be.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
The red Oni rages where the blue Oni waits. The Red Oni Tattoo fighters run hot and they are at peace with this.
'Fuzen' means incompleteness, a joke at his own expense before it was a name. The blade sent for the jobs that had to be certain — left with one last name on his list when the wars ended.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Practical and armed. The Hair Bun With Chopsticks fighters put utensils in their hair and call it hair care — the dual function is not accidental.
Repurposed. Made for the earth, used for the fight. The Farmers Hoe fighters don't distinguish between cultivation and combat.
