Diary
The contract was simple once: a blade, a target, a clean exit before the incense cooled. Then Fuzen crossed paths with Ikari on a street thick with lantern smoke and market noise, and somewhere between the third clash of steel and the fourth, something in his chest opened that no wound ever had. He tells people he found Buddhism after that day, and it is not a lie, only an incomplete invoice, the way most of his work has always been. He sits now in half-lotus behind the dojo, robes patched, incense lit, reciting sutras with the same flat patience he once reserved for waiting outside a mark's door, except his discipline keeps slipping into old habits, a joint tucked behind the prayer beads, sake standing in for the ceremonial tea. Enlightenment, like every contract Fuzen has ever taken, remains open, unfinished, and he is in absolutely no hurry to close it.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Royalty that refused the crown. The Purple Night backgrounds belong to fighters who could have been somewhere easier and chose not to be.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Wealth made garment. The Money Kimono fighters wear their wins literally — the fabric is a record, not a boast.
'Fuzen' means incompleteness, a joke at his own expense before it was a name. The blade sent for the jobs that had to be certain — left with one last name on his list when the wars ended.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Time made visible, flowing. Flowing Dreads fighters carry their history in motion — every lock a year, and the years are moving now.
Not metaphorical. Someone's leg bone, spiked. The Spiky Femur fighters have been here long enough that the bones of their enemies are now equipment.
