Every dawn since, he unsheathes his discipline like an old sword rusted shut, swears this is the day he ignores the group chat, and by noon he is three arguments deep about whether a JPEG is undervalued. The contract on his own glory remains open, unsigned, patiently gathering dust, exactly the way he prefers his enemies to wait.”
