Assassin Fuzen had killed men without blinking, but it was the crows at Fushimi shrine that finally made him ask what honor was worth, diving at his topknot between the thousand vermillion gates like a jury that had already reached its verdict. He stood there swatting at feathers with a blade that had never missed a mark, and somewhere in that ridiculous flapping chaos the last thread of his samurai code quietly frayed and did not come back. These days the contract on his old life sits unsigned on some celestial desk, gathering dust while he runs a gambling den so crooked the dice apologize before they land wrong. He tells himself he is only waiting, patient as ever, for the day he squares his ledger with the gods and the birds, but the house always wins and so, it seems, does the vice. Every dawn he vows to close up shop, sit in silence, find the old discipline again, and every dawn a new fool walks in with coin to lose and Fuzen's honor waits a little longer, patient as unfinished business always is.
Worn as trophy or warning — nobody is quite sure which. The Chicken Bones fighters have a ceremony for everything and share it with no one.
Lived-in color. The Warm Grey background belongs to fighters who have been through enough that their edges have softened without their core changing.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
The organization runs deep. The Yakuza Tattoo Sleeve fighters have commitments that predated the Dojo and will outlast it.
'Fuzen' means incompleteness, a joke at his own expense before it was a name. The blade sent for the jobs that had to be certain — left with one last name on his list when the wars ended.
The world through affection. The Loveheart Shades fighters see everything as worth caring about — and have found this is more effective than the alternative.
The farmer's crown. The Rice Hat fighters carry tradition on their head without ceremony — it's just what you wear when you have work to do.
Organization-issue. The Yakuza Club fighters have backup in the weight of the weapon itself — it carries institutional authority.
