They say Assassin Fuzen has never left a contract unfinished, yet at Fushimi shrine, beneath ten thousand vermilion gates, his own heart signed one it could not close. He had gone to meditate, to breathe discipline back into hands that once held a blade with purpose and now mostly hold a lighter, but instead he found himself watching Goro laugh in the torii-lined light, and something in his chest opened like an unguarded flank. He did not strike. He did not speak. He simply filed the moment away the way he files every unfinished job, patient, silent, certain the debt will one day be collected, though he tells himself, with the dry menace of a man rehearsing a lie, that he can do better than a heartbreak that never even drew blood. Still he returns to Fushimi some evenings, half meditation, half surveillance, trying to reclaim the old stillness his samurai self knew, and failing beautifully, because discipline was easier before longing joined the ledger. The contract remains open. Fuzen does not do closure. He does inevitability.
Not contacts. Not paint. Something older. The Shaman Eyes fighters see through the collection at a frequency others can't access, and they've been doing it since before the derug.
Royalty that refused the crown. The Purple Night backgrounds belong to fighters who could have been somewhere easier and chose not to be.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Wealth made garment. The Money Kimono fighters wear their wins literally — the fabric is a record, not a boast.
'Fuzen' means incompleteness, a joke at his own expense before it was a name. The blade sent for the jobs that had to be certain — left with one last name on his list when the wars ended.
The world through affection. The Loveheart Shades fighters see everything as worth caring about — and have found this is more effective than the alternative.
The Dojo's version of a mohawk. More specific, more named. The Dejen Mohawk fighters chose the Dojo's interpretation of rebellion over the generic one.
Used and not cleaned. The Bloody Nunchucks fighters are efficient — cleaning was someone else's job and they had the next fight to prepare for.
